With more than 30 years of playing experience and five years of teaching experience I'm available to be your instructor. I am now accepting new clients at my dedicated practice studio (see map) on the northeast side of Colorado Springs. If you live in Black Forest, Falcon, Monument, Briargate, Glen Eagle, Pine Creek, or Flying Horse, I'm in a convenient location for you.
I learned my acoustic and electric chops while playing in bands in Austin, Texas, for many years. I studied classical for awhile under Spanish guitarist Maria Cortez until I got to the point where I felt I could continue on my own. I taught myself some jazz using the Mickey Baker Method. I can teach you, too. I'll teach you to read guitar notation and tablature, chord charts and orchestration; or if you prefer, I'll teach you to play "by ear."
I am a licensed teacher, trained in the art of teaching—which is a lot different than simply saying "here, practice this." Not only do I teach individuals, but I also have taught group lessons for kids at Frontier Charter Academy in Calhan. No matter what style interests you—rock, folk, country, jazz or classical—together we can do it.
I understand that life can get in the way of the best laid plans. For this reason I offer flexible scheduling. You can miss and reschedule up to two lessons without penalty. If you miss more than that, each one is charged as a full lesson. However, if you pay in advance, you can miss and reschedule all you want. If my schedule gets too full, I reserve the right to change this policy so I can accomodate as many students as possible.
